Guide to leadership by Fawny

(from the Shadowbane days & the UBI forums - Fawny's whimsical spelling not preserved.)
  1. Tell people, "if you don't listen, I will kill you/ have you killed" and ALWAYS follow through. No second chances; first sign of not listening, kill them. Better to have one less idiot than to have your whole group of 40 annihilated because some moron ran out and gave everyone targets for AOE's.
  2. Make sure you know who is responsible for leading. NO ONE but her tells everyone what to do. NO ONE questions what they are told to do. There is time for hind sight after the battle. Fawny does not care if the leader tells you to run into the thick of the pack and start singing the funky chicken. You have to TRUST that your leader has a plan.
  3. Make sure your followers respect you. NEVER EVER ask them to do anything you yourself are not willing to do.
  4. Get to know your troops. That is why small groups are a lot better. Everyone knows everyone's play style and can complement it.
  5. Never lose your cool and play the blame game. If you lose, shrug it off, go "GOOD FIGHT" and remember that this is a game you play for fun. When you stop having fun it is time to quit.
  6. After and battle take time to review it and see where you can improve and hand out positive feed back to those who did well. Negativity needs to be kept to a minimum. Make suggestions on how to improve performance, not just a "You POOP HEAD how could you be so SILLY to do that?!??!?!?!" That does not tell them how to improve or solve the problem.
  7. ALWAYS have lots of cookies. They are a yummy snack and full of sugar to help with sudden bursts of energy.

The Waste Land (Excerpt)

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. Only
There is shadow under this red rock,
(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
